Hillary Clinton Democratic presidential nominee got a million more votes than her Republican rival, President-elect Donald Trump, but lost the election since he received more electoral votes.
In 2012, Trump harshly criticized the Electoral collage system, saying it is a disaster to democracy but now he considers it to be "Genius".
To be elected president in the United States a candidate must win at least 290 of the total 538 votes in the Electoral collage where vote are apportioned to the states based.
Though many criticize the electoral law based on their population, reflecting the number of their representatives in congress.
The votes stands at 61.96 million(47.8%) for clinton and 60.96 millione (47%) for Trump.
