A man, age 40 has met his water loo, after he was found guilty by a state high court in Osun state over the act of theft he performed on a woman identified as Omowumi Adebola, the suspect Kayode Adedeji attacked his victim at her home at Illesa, armed with knife and went away with her 3,450 naira on April 25 2009, the incident took place at midnight. The suspect was apprehended be the member of the Oodua Peoples Congress who kept vigil at the the time of the incident. Actually that was not the case that led to the death sentence of Mr Kayode Adedeji.
During his trial, he was granted bail but was re-arrested after
committing another offense which led to him being remanded in the IIlesa
prison. The judge ruled that the offense ran foul of the law and punishable
under Section 11(2)(A) CAPR II, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
2004.
The presiding judge, Kudirat Akano, found the condemned suspect guilty
and ordered that he be killed by hung despite pleas by the defence
counsel, Tunde Adedokun, for the court to be lenient and merciful in its
judgment.
No date has been announced for his execution.
