Catholic war, Imo indegens dears Pope Frances, wants immediate removal of Bishop

The people of Mbaise in Imo state has rejected the appointment of Bishop Opkaleke as the Bishop of their diocese, reason being that he is not from the community. [Ahiara] The youths of the diocese went on a protest against the Bishop in black attires, saying that the Bishop should be removed immediately from their diocese and they will not stop until their wish is been responded to positively.

President of the Diocesan Laity Council, Gerald Ayanwu, said that Bishop Okpaleke was forced on them meaning that it was not their wish and they can not accept him no matter what, he also said any body can be appointed as their Bishop but certainly not Okpalake.
Pope Francis order on Thursday with some Ahiara delegations was rejected by over 300 faithful of the Ahara Catholic Diocese and insist that Bishop Peter Okpalake must be removed despite an order by the Pope.

Bishop Peter Okpalake was ordained Bishop by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 but both the laity council and the priest in the area rejected his appointment on the grounds that he is not an indigene  of the area, Mbaise.
At the vertican meeting the Pope has ordered the priest and the Laities of the community involved in the crises to tender a letter of obedience to the church, which he said was not owned by the community.
The Pope warned the defiant Priests from the area saying. '' lose your jobs if you don't obey me and your bishop'' the associated press reported. The Pope said that he was acting for the good of the people of God, threatening to suspend the priests involved in the crises if they don't tender a letter of Obedience by July 9, '' TOTAL OBEDIENCE'' to Frances their Pope and Okpaleke their Bishop. He also said to the delegation that the said priest were threatening to destroy the church which will course more damage.

Speaking to the congregation in the cathedral, Ayanwu said that they were not against the Pope but saying that Bishop Okpaleke was forced on them and they are not saying that the Bishop must come from Mbaise but must be a priest incardinated from Ahiara Presbyterian, which he claimed Okpaleke was not. We shall accept our Bishop even if he is from Housa or Yoruba as long as he is an incardinated priest of Ahiara Diocese, he concludes.
