The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees [NULGE] has made known to the Nation, that at least 23 states in Nigeria are currently owing their workers salaries. According to the body some of these states are owing as much as 16 months arrears.
The National president of the union Ibrahim Khaleel stated this in a statement issued on Monday June 26 in Abuja. According to reports from Vanguard, Khaleel said that Beyelsa state owes the highest, between 10 to 16 months unpaid salaries.


Below is the list of states owing workers and the number of months owed.

1   Bayelsa between 10 to 16 months.

2   Kogi  7 to 15 months

3   Delta  8 to 14 months.

4   Kaduna 12 months.

5   Oyo     3 to 11 months

6   Edo     10 months

7   Abia   5 to 9 months

8   Kwara 2 to 9 months

9   Benue  9 months

10   Nasarawa 7 months

11   Ondo 6 months

12   Ekiti   6 months

13   Imo    6 months

14   Zamfara   [ has not started implementation of minimum wage]

15   Adamawa 4 months

16   Rivers  4 months

17   Akwa Ibom   4 months

18  Eboyi   4 months

19  Plateau  4 months

20  Taraba  3 months

21  FCT  3 months

22  Cross River [ 700 worker are owed between 1 and 3 months]

23  Ogun  [ This state is yet to remit its deduction since 7 months]

The Union president Mr Khaleel advised the governors of the listed state to pay up all their workers with second tranche of the Paris Loan refund released to them. According to him failure to do so will attract a disavowal action from the Union which might result to shutting down all local government councils in the country.
