The Guardian report that former governor of Adamawa state James Bala Ngilari was sentenced to 5 years in prison without option of fine by a Yola high court on monday March 6 for fraud he commited while in office.
Ngilari was found guilty of 17 criminal charges. While in office as the executive governor of Adamawa state he awarded ontracts withuot due processes, this and many more crimminal charges were levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission [EFCC].
The presiding judge, Justice Nathan Musa said the case was decided based on evidence placed before the court and not the opinion of the council.
