The commercial city of Anambra state (Onitsha) has been crowned the dirtiest in the world.
This is because of its high rate of industrial waist, Onitsha was in 2016 ranked the worst city in the world for staggering levels of PM10 particulate matter in its air.
Onitsha mean annual concentration was recorded at 594 micrograms per cubic metre by the World Health Organisation, massively exceeding the World Health Organisation annual guideline limit of PM10s of 20ug/m3.
This means Onitsha stands as the most polluted city in the world but the people living in it do not even know it.
The cause of this high level of pollution includes dust, gases emmitted by vehicles, all types of combustion and industrial activities such as cement manufacturing, construction, minning etc.
