Chemical disaster in Port Harcourt.

Residents in the Rivers state capital, Port Harcourt are highly frightened by recent changes in air and sky in the atmosphere.

Reports has that black soot is currently falling from the sky in Port Harcourt.

The soot is as a result of carbon emissions from company yet to be known.

Inhaling the soot according to a medical practitioner, can result to illness such as Asthma, Pneumonia, Bronchitis and other dangerous respiratory tract infections.

This environmental problem has been on for months now and has been putting residents healths in danger.

Parents with little children has raised alarm over how their babies nostrils are blackened by the black air and they wonder what denger it will result to their kids later.

The general manager, Port Harcourt rifinary company blame the soot pollute on illegal oil activities by bunkers and vandals.

         CHEMICAL DEFINITION OF SOOT
Soot is a mass of impure carbon particles gotten when combustion of hydrocarbons is not complete.
Soot is properly restricted to the product of gas-phase combustion process but is commonly extended to include the residual pyrolysed fuel particles such as coal, cenospheres, charred wood and petroleum coke that may become airborne during pyrolysis and that are more properly identified as cokes or chars.
