A clash in gariki market in Enugu state has caused two lifes gon too soon. An Igbo man, Ifeanyi and a Fulani man, Ali.
According to an eye witness, Mr Ali came from new artisan market with a cow to slaughter in Gariki abattoir following the closure of the market by the state government.
Ali asked Ifeanyi who worked as an attendant, to slaughter the cow then paid N400 instead of the N500 that was changed in the market.
Later Ifeanyi asked for the balance but the Fulani man refused and that degenerated into a heated fight.
Ali subsequently pulled out a dagger and stabbed Ifeanyi repeatedly until he slumped and died.
Then he tried to run but was intercepted by traders who beat him to death.
Later angry Igbos regrouped and set fire to the mosque inside Gariki market.
Anti-riot police men were deployed to the scene.
My question is, where were the traders when they were fighting?.
