At Least 62 policemen killed by IS

The Islamic state group and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) insurgence on tuesday both claimed the attack on a police training academy in the city of Quetta in western Pakistan that killed at least 62.

The IS were well equiped with automatic riffles and homemade bombs in a 4 hour encounter.

The millitants then allegedly detonated the explosives-laden vests they were wearing in the middle of a group of police officers, the news agency said.

According to Ameq 60 police officers were killed in the attack and 120 were wounded.

On the other hand the TTP's southern karachi chapter claimed 4 of its members carried out the attack that killed 65 police men.

The TTP said in a statement. 'This was in response to the killing of our mujehidden, who were brought out of jail and martyed. We will continue the killings until islamic law is imposed.

Major General Sher Afghan of the frontier corps claimed the incident was master minded from neighbouring Afghanistan, according to earlier media reports.
